Data Table:  Housing Needed to Match ABAG Projections for 2020 Job Generation: Comparison of ABAG Projections for Base Case, Regional Agencies Workshops Preferred Scenario, and ABAG Policy-Based Forecast 2003.  Calculations by Bay Area Council.


Presentation and Data Tables of a transparent and place-based series of Bay Area jobs and housing growth projections through the year 2020, focusing on realistic infill development opportunities and densities; and consistent with the following goals:  Housing Affordability: balance total job growth and new housing supply within the region; Reduced Commuting Burdens; Respect community character; Identify ample sites for future economic development, Insure adequate housing product and location choice; Encourage higher densities in appropriate neighborhoods (near job centers, served by transit, walkable).  Research by John Landis, Chair, Department of City and Regional Planning, University of California at Berkeley for the Bay Area Council and the Economic and Business Caucus of the Bay Area Alliance.
